the faint checker marks are very intentional -- the concept behind this theme is chess (sort of), but trying to keep it out of your face as much as possible. If you notice (how could you not) the background is out of focus and fairly dark. Its out of the way and unobtrusive -- certainly not the center of attention in the way that many wallpapers are. Excellent theme the only downfall i really see is that the active task icons dont appear to be noticeable versus the inactive task icons. The menus make everything stand out. Good job!
