Just edit the .skn file, there is a line:

// Uncomment for Black
// FillRect(8,8,,,000000)
// Uncomment for Grid
TileBitmapA(0,156,24,24,8,8,,)

Just change the there.

Same thing for the eject button, just // the line:

CreateButton(49,135,10,14,220,-20,fnEject,Eject)
