It´s a good looking theme, but I wouldn´t use it ~ I´d be frightened of breaking one on the plethora of rules in the ReadMe.

To mickblue:

"plethora of rules" in the Readme file? ... You´re probably talking about the "Terms of use and copyrights" , which I´ve copy- pasted from the Aston site - theme tutorial. Since I´m new to this field (as you should have noticed) , I wasn´t sure about the best way to write a "readme file" which includes a copyright note, so I´ve checked the tutorial from the Aston site.

Considering that english is not my native language and that those guys from Aston thmeme are for sure better than me in those sort of things, I´ve included the coyright model they´ve provided in my readme file.

With that said, if you have a problem with the copyright notes, don´t use this theme (I wonder though how come that you´re using Aston... they have a copyright note also...)

If "having or not a copyright note" is what you have in mind when you choose a theme, and not the theme´s quality, then yes, you shouldn´t use this theme.

Note: I´ve posted my reply to mickeblue just once, so the fact it appears twice it´s not my fault Happy

You´re offering a theme to the community Amaranthus, not selling a piece of software.

"MyTheme theme for Aston Shell ([LINK]) [what is this all garbage for? Happy]
©2003 by Taras Brizitsky alias SacRat ([LINK]) [now you can´t just say, that "I don´t know the author"]
Theme version: 1.0 (final) [in case I make numerous themes with the same name]
Made for Aston Shell version: 1.80 [if you use any specific tricks of current version of Aston; Here I let people know, that it´s best with AstonShell 1.80 as I skinned Toppanel plugin]
====================================================
DESCRIPTION
This is my very first theme. Hope, you like it Happy [let people know,, what they have just downloaded]
====================================================
TERMS OF USE AND COPYRIGHTS
-This Aston Shell theme (theme) was created by Taras Brizitsky aka SacRat, year 2003.
-This theme is licensed freeware for home use, no commercial use is allowed without author´s explained written permission.
-You can share it with your friends, who don´t have internet access, but ONLY in original package (meaning that all the files, including this readme remain intact).
-You cannot use this theme or any part of it in your own works, put it on your webpage/site, BBS, Shareware CD-ROM, magazine or any other media.
-This theme cannot be altered without author´s written permission.
[in two words: don´t steal, modify or sale my work or you´ll get into a trouble] "

As you can see, this is a copyright model for POSTING a theme, not for SELLING it. So your affirmation about me "selling" something it´s kinda ilogical...

You should also check the last Aston theme that sacrat posted here (with a copyright note included) :

If you have any comments regarding my work, they are more than welcomed. Constructive comments (no matter if they are negative or positive) are always helpful. So, if there is anything that you can say about the composition, the scheme color or any other similar things, please do so. I´m always ready to learn new things and to improove my self.

But. The way I choose to present my work, protecting it or not, following in this an example gave by people better than me or you on this, it is really not your business.

So in the future, if you don´t have something construtive to say and the only thing that you can find is to bitch about copyright notes in a sarcastic way, you can keep your thoughts for your self.

I don´t know why I´m even bothering to respond to this, but I will because as you pointed out constructive criticsm is always valuable.

Think about the line in your ReadMe file ~
This theme cannot be altered without author´s written permission.

What that says is you don´t want people to have it unless they have it under your terms. Well excuse me Princess, but some people like to customise themes to suit there taste and way of working ~ and most of us accept that this is part of the fun of making and sharing themes. You however, seem to hold yourself in such high esteem ~ as was made very clear in your responses to my posting, that different rules apply for your work.

"I don´t know why I´m even bothering to respond to this " ... either Grin

Do you ever read my last reply? I´ve said "constructive criticism ... ABOUT COMPOSITION, COLOR SCHEME AND ANY OTHER SIMILAR THINGS. ...The way I CHOOSE to present my wotk IT IS NOT YOUR BUSINESS."

So... "Mister"... stop beying so " Sad" and don´t waste my time with excellent samples of lack of logic .

*To use or not to use * the theme I´ve created seem to be a real problem for you. Let me help you with this: don´t use it.

may soond like a big n00b right now but....
how do i install it

Comment by: Amaranthus
To RobVanDam:

Step 1: Create a new folder in the Aston > Themes directory and name it with the theme´s name;
Step 2: Unzip the downloaded file and extract it into the new folder that you´ve just created in the Step1;
Step3: Run "Theme Wizard" (thwizard.exe in Aston folder) ;
Step4: Select the theme, then click the "Preview" or "OK" button.

I hope this will help you. If you´ll still have questions, don´t hesitate to ask. Happy

Whether or not you read this...as it is now three years late...I had Aston once on my machine...it sucks...do this for windowblinds and you´ve got a good thing going. Just one hint...rules are rules...but...don´t restrict others by them...keep them for you as they may not apply to those who enjoy this art.
