Eternal Night
By ArchxIncludes 1280x1024 and 1024x768 resolutions in zip. This is my tribute to one of Australia's greatest geologists and explorers, Douglas Mawson and his 1911-14 Antarctic expedition. After trecking 3000 km through one of the most hostile environments on Earth, and losing the rest of his exploration party to vitimin A poisoning (from eating the livers of their snow dogs), he reached base camp just in time to see his rescuers' ship disappearing over the horizon. They could wait no longer for his return as the rapidly freezing ice would soon trap them. Douglas Mawson was stranded alone for the duration of the eternal night of the Antarctic winter. During this time he wrote the book The Home of the Blizzard.
