the fountain courtyard of a hotel i stayed at in guilin, china. between the dining hall and tea/coffee bar. if you're ever in guilin, be sure to ask about the merryland resort (that's my commercial plug for the day!).

the stone creatures are stylized toads called tzan tzu in chinese. mini dieties that bring luck and fortune. usually seen on the scratched glass countertops of chinese herbal stores colored burgundy and holding a bunch of ancient chinese coins in their mouths. with glittery eyes and (sometimes) glittery warts on their backs. good times.
