Thanks for the comments and feature. Happy
sed Nice to see another rider on the site. I try to ride to work every day. Preferably cross country when the horses have not chewed up the trails. This shot was taken on my route home today.

Thanks for the comments they are all very much appreciated.

Artur The bike in the photo is a Specialized Rockhopper non disc. I have changed the standard spec to flat XC bars with bar ends and a longer inverted stem. I like the stretched out position as per my road bikes.
I have a custom built Geoffrey Butler road bike with Campag STI gears and a Claud Butler Tourer that is my main winter commuting bike.

I also have a Ridgeback mountain bike that I just use for snow riding and another old road bike that is really worn out.

When I was an engineer I used to cover upto 40miles (65Km) return each day with a bunch of my work mates.
This is where my Geoffrey Butler came into it´s own climbing up and down the steep hills round Surrey.

Is your Merlin from Merlin Cycles in the UK? With that spec I bet it climbs well!

Your bikes sound great a good few kilos lighter than mine. I too have gone down the hardtail route, just don´t need the extra weight of a full suss.

I too love to climb. I think a good climber needs a good power to weight ratio a light bike and most of all a mentalty to overcome pain!
